Modern and Unique Mid-Century Hard Lofts at 90 Sumach St in Corktown Toronto
The Brewery Lofts is a noteworthy building, also one of my favorite lofts unlike any other in Toronto. In 1956, 90 Sumach St was built as a warehouse and then leased by the CBC in the early years of television to house their design facilities for sets and props. In 1996 it was converted as a residential loft. There are a variety of units in the Brewery Lofts at 90 Sumach St. 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom and 3 bedroom floor plans are all available. The complex was converted to condos in 2006 from apartments and the builder did a fantastic job. You can expect modern spacious layouts with mostly polished concrete floors throughout the living space, dining room and kitchen. That is unless the current owners have done some updating with their own custom renovation.
1 bedroom units run about 680 square feet while the 3 bedroom units can get up to 1200 square feet. Prices range from 240,000 up to over 300,000. Units don't sit on the market for long when they come up for sale.

Original vintage lobby lighting from former CBC, artwork of historic CBC images and sound baffling ceiling tiles in the hallways

Small dog park adjacent to building
Below is a great documentary on the history of 90 Sumach St, and when it was first converted into residential lofts. Take a look at some of the converted units and the quality of space here.
The Brewery Lofts at 90 Sumach St Attracts Artists and Creative Professionals
Run by a great condo Board of Directors and an active Design Committee, the complex itself shows the pride of ownership of the people living there. The condo fees cover all the things you'd expect including property upkeep and all utilities.
Living in Corktown
This area of Corktown in Toronto rarely has a dull moment. What used to be a derelict low income area, is now a vibrant neighbourhood with tons of shops and nearby necessities (think indie cafes, eateries, restaurants, quaint diners, dry cleaner, banks) guarantee that someone will be out and about at any time of day or night. Foodies will enjoy lots of delicious restaurants nearby including Corktown Kitchen, Cocina Economica, and Dominion Pub just at the end of the block.
This area of east downtown is zoned for low to mid-density which ensures lots of light and unobstructed view in every unit, quite the contrary to the high density concrete jungle in some of the neighbourhoods in the downtown core.
